Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart - Elizabeth Andrew
An important feature of the Club is the volunteering ethos. Without the burden of a players’ wage bill, the money the Club raises is all ploughed back into the facilities and high quality coaching for members, rather than into mercenary pockets!
Recent purchases include:
New net facilities 2020
New covers 2023
New sight screens 2023
New umpires’ changing room 2023
New commercial barbecue 2024
Changing Room Improvements 2024
Kitchen Improvements 2025
Purchase of a new roller - Poweroll 2024. The arrival of a brand-new, top of the range “Poweroll County” heavy roller, widely regarded as the best money can buy was purchased following a magnificent crowdfunding campaign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6fQST977ZA
Tractor and trailer 2025
In addition to the volunteering ethos, the beautiful surroundings, range of playing standards, large membership and community footfall naturally attracts like-minded sponsors.
Spectators are well catered for, with a well-stocked bar providing refreshments and the Club is an important social hub for the village. For those not gripped by the action on the pitch there is a large screen TV and even a box of Lego; a real family-orientated Club.
The National Village Cup games, on Sundays, are particularly well attended. As the 2020 final was won behind closed doors, the Club’s supporters are still looking forward to that elusive Colwall pilgrimage to Lord’s.
For many, that pilgrimage would start at Colwall station a short walk from the ground. The station provides a direct train to London Paddington, but also provides easy access to the Club from Malvern and Worcester to the east as well as Ledbury and Hereford to the west.
The Club has a dedicated team who organise a calendar of lively social events throughout the year.
The Club believes in giving back and some of the money raised by our events go to the Club's nominated charity of the year.
2018 - the Club raised £2151 to purchase two defibrillators, one at CCC and one at The Chase Inn in memory of John Sangster.
2019 - the Club raised £650 for local charity Daisychain Benevolent Fund in Malvern who support Teenager Cancer Trust helping to purchase equipment at Worcester Royal Hospital.
2023 - the Club raised £2,000 for local charity ARCOS. Based in Malvern they support children and adults with communication, eating, drinking and/or swallowing difficulties, and who require physical therapy. Founded in 1992 by a group of health professionals who realised the long-term needs of people with developmental and complex neurological conditions were not being fully met by statutory providers.
2024 - the Club raised £2377 for Bowel Cancer UK in memory of Hollie Hill, our secretary's daughter, who raise awareness of the symptoms of bowel cancer, especially in young people.
2025 - the Club raised £1350 for HeartStart Malvern, another local charity, who aims to increase the chance of surviving an out of hospital cardiac arrest by using volunteers to train members of the public in basic resuscitation techniques and placing public access defibrillators throughout Malvern.
