Playing The Hundred format was a welcome variety for the team away at Brockhampton on Tuesday evening. Cam Hall lost the toss but in any case got his wish to bat first and he set about handling some very handy opening bowling from Brockhampton along with Franny Cowper. Having nicked off and to his credit walking, Cammy was followed in by Rory Heath, to date unbeaten in U13 cricket this season (and therefore so far without a batting average....). 'The Dentist' smashed 25 not out to push the run rate up very handily and was joined shortly after in the retired out club by Franny. With overs running out and battling exhaustion Ralph dug deep and was probably not overjoyed to be joined at the wicket by the ever busy Willy B who chipped in a very useful quick fire 20 at the end of the innings to take the score to a respectable 112 from the 100 balls.
The fielding was again superb with two run outs (1 direct hit from IGF, another very good combination between Roars and Cammy), tight stopping of runs and another excellent catch from Jake 'wicket take' Holland who in bowled beautifully as did Samuel Holland - representing the Deadly Double Dutch once again. Brave flight from Luca 'the Beard to be feared' was well rewarded with a wicket and there was tidy bowling all round, Bangers really slowing the run rate at a critical point in the run chase.
Recognising that the opposition were missing some key players, continued improvement will likely be required if the Wall are to challenge in the next match - that said, it was a good performance in different conditions from what the boys are used to, the slope was a new factor for some of the team.
