A much improved weekend for the 3 teams, another great victory for the 2nds, the first team dig deep to win at Bartestree and the 3rds put in a much better performance v Eastnor.
At 28/3 the 2nds unbeaten run looked in danger but Chris Kendalls had different ideas with a fine 92, a great return to form for Chris, he was well supported by Tom Hall 30, Harry Vogt 24 and some lusty blows from Charlie Cresswell and Adam Heath taking the home side to an impressive 252. It was a total that looked beyond the Stourbridge team and looked more impossible when Damien Berry delivered a hat -trick , a truly great pice of bowling.Charlie Cresswell continued show his potential with 3 fine wickets with the visitors falling well short on 152.
The first team travelled the short distance to Hereford for one of the first meetings between the two sides. The home side made no hesitation in batting first and amassed an impressive 225 with many of the batsman getting in but never taking the game away from the visitors. Jack Collins once again delivered in a fiery spell taking an impressive 6-62 off 15 overs.
Colwall could not have had a worse start with Sam Williams getting as first baller and quickly followed Jack Collins leaving the visitors reeling at 7 for 2. When Cook went for 34 the noise from the home side went up a few decibels. However Henry Hardinges had different ideas and hit a fine 68 and well supported by a patient Alex Basford 50 off 88 balls. Alex’s 76 run partnership with Freddie Coleman became the match winning moment. Freddie hit a fine 55, to take CCC to a fantastic win. Well played Freddie great to see you back in form .
The 3rd team took the short trip to Eastnor & just failed by 36 runs, the home side amassed a good total of 277 and at one time when Adam McLachlan 44 & Peter Recordon 54 a first win of the season looked possible. Unfortunately wickets did fall on a regular basis and despite contributions from Ben Recordon 42 & Dan Sparrey 27 Colwall could not quite reach the target set. Harry Evan’s 3 -33 & Tom Barter 2- 43 were the pick of Colwall’s bowlers.
All in all a encouraging weekend, and another big one next weekend with a local derby v Brockhampton for the 1st team, the 2nds face a tough journey to the inform Belbroughton & the 3rds face Almeley on Ghost meadow.
