- Kim Berry

We can only start this week’s round up with one man, stand tall Jack Collins for his magnificent 149 which included 20 4’s , 4 6’s in just 128 balls. Jacks innings enabled the visitors to amass a match winning 388 & probably the biggest total for many years. Jack was ably supported by Rob Cook 66 from just 42 balls, Mark Hardinges 43 who due to the other batters form has not been seen in the middle for a while. The innings finished off well with a brisk 43 off 37 balls by the inform Chris Kendall. A total that clearly the home side were never going to challenge although stubborn resistant allowed them to lose only 6 wickets for 234. Great to see first team debuts from Charlie Clements & Hugo Hardinges, Charlie bowled well taking his first wicket for 60 off 10 overs. Savvy was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 51 off his 10 overs. A final shout out to Freddie Coleman who conceded only 5 byes in another tidy keeping performance. The win means we consolidate our second place with some big games coming up.

After some good victory’s the 2nd team found it hard going when they inserted Himley at Stowe Lane. The visitors got off to a fine start and never looked back accumulating a useful total of 271. Colwall used 7 bowlers with none of them being able to do much damage and Himley found themselves only losing 4 wickets. The reply from Buttle and Waters 45 gave CCC a solid start with 66 for the first wicket but despite fine innings by Sam Bradley 43, Christian 34 & Yuvraj27 & Palmer 28 no one could stay at the crease for that big total which which have taken us to victory. A good close game but we fell short by just 23 runs

With some last minute injury issues and mid August availability issues the 3rds put up a brave fight against table topping Brockhampton however fell to a 6 wicket defeat. The report will be updated as when the scorecard details are available.

Jack Collins has now scored 746 runs in all 21 league games (inc Evening League) with an average of 53. On top of that he has taken 40 wickets. We love you Jack

A mixed set of results but some fine individual performances with importantly some individuals stepping up to higher levels which is fantastic to see and clearly demonstrates that as a club we are improving in all areas. More work to do but lets keep looking forward to a bright future
