As the evening sun started to set a thrilling contest was taking place on Ghost Meadow, supported by a large crowd Tom Palmer led his team to a thrilling one wicket victory. A last wicket partnership of 19 between young William Orton 10 from 10 balls & skipper Tom 32 off 31 balls somewhat shocked a strong Canon Frome team who looked destined to take all of the points. The win was earlier set up by a fine 54 by Tom Barter. Giles Morgan 3 for 47 and Anthony Duggan 2 for 37 restricted the visitors to a competitive 223 and at 150/5 a home win looked unlikely but roared on by a boisterous crowd it was youth and experience that saw CCC home to a famous victory.
The 2nd eleven romped home against Himbleton who at the start of play had equal number of points but the visitors had no answer to the fine bowling by young excellent Zayann Edavalath 3 for 33, and the experienced Mark Hardinges 3 for 19 off 7 backed up ably by the ever economical Harry Evans 2/20 and Hugo Hardinges 1/31.
The Colwall openers started off briskly with Mark Hardinges in a rush with a quick fire 27 off just 15 balls and a fine solid knock of 34 no by Euan Buttle. After 4 defeats this was a much needed win and places the home team in 7th position
At 165 for 7 Belbroughton looked in trouble however Stu Hawk 64 no took the home side to a decent total of 265, a total which always looked a bit of stretch , Jai Kurt thought otherwise with a fine 78 off just 62 balls but partnerships came and went, and it was only Will Rowey 33that really got in. Unfortunately with just one ball to go colwall lot the 10th wicket so the draw was not to be. Jai had a fine all round match taking 4 for 43 in his 13 overs , lets home this form continues as we enter an important time of the season. We move on to next week for a home game against Burghill an once again availability will be a key factor to the outcome
Two out of 3 was not a bad weekend in the end for the club, however with first team sitting in 11th position better results are now very much required
