More work to do for 1st & 2nds but 3rds bring some sunshine

Henry & Pedder lead the way with fine performances

Another tough weekend at CCC with defeats against Bewdley , OE’s and Brockhampton in the village Knock Out however the 3rd team gave us a ray of sunshine with a convincing win against local rivals Ledbury.

A total of 89 was never going to be enough at home to Bewdley who were currently top of the league with no batsman reaching 20 however the bowlers proved to be more effective taking 5 wickets with Lucas Recordon and Charlie Cresswell leading the way. All in all not a great day but we move on to next weekend where the 1st team entertain Himley an opportunity to put things right in front of a home crowd

With availability not at its strongest this weekend a young 2nd team visited a strong OE’s side who rattled up 431 for just 6 wickets and CCC in reply hit 182. With no scorecard available further details are short at time of writing

The ray of sunshine on an otherwise cloudy day was to be found at Ledbury where on a very green wicket the visitors inserted the home side and skittled them out for just 130 with the wickets being shared by 7 bowlers!! Great to see Anthony Duggan back after a season off through injury taking 2 for 11 off 4, with Jonathan Henry being the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 17 off 9 overs.

In reply Colwall never looked in trouble in the capable hands of Andrew Heath 31 , Andrew Walters 26, Ben Recordon 25 & top scorer Mark Pedder top scoring with a fine 41 no hitting 2 4’s and 2 fine 6’s.

Yesterday saw a mixed eleven take on a strong Brockhampton side in the first round of the VKO, Tom skerrett hit a very classy 125 to take the home side to a challenging total of 239 & and at 40 for 5 CCC look out of the game however some fine hitting by Max Moor 53, Rahul Katti 63 & Lucas Recordon 33 took CCC to within 20 runs. A really good fight back and something to build upon as we move in to the season proper. Great to see such a really good team atmosphere despite this loss & this will be an important feature as we move forward.

Not to be this year but we will keep trying. Good luck to Brockhampton in the next round

The evening League starts on Tuesday so any one wanting to play please let the selector’s know if not see you all at nets.
