Dear Members,
Membership Fees Frozen for the Next 12 Months
Colwall Cricket Club is fortunate to enjoy one of the finest village cricket settings in the UK. Our club is home to two beautiful grounds maintained to the highest standards, two pavilions providing comfortable changing facilities, a well-stocked bar offering competitive prices, a modern three-lane net facility, sightscreens, electronic scoreboards and covers for our players to enjoy.
The club currently supports 8 senior teams and 13 junior teams, creating a vibrant hub for sport, social connection and community spirit within the village.
Investing in the Club for 2026
Each year the committee looks for opportunities to further improve our facilities and enhance the experience for players and members. This year we are investing in:
• Three new sightscreens – approximately £5,000
• An upgrade to the club’s WiFi and internet connectivity (Starlink) to provide reliable coverage across the ground – approximately £5,000
• The introduction of the NV Play system, which will support team and player development through performance data while also enabling live scoring, streaming and match highlights – approximately £1,000
The Committee works hard to identify revenue sources that support these improvements and ensure Colwall Cricket Club remains strong and sustainable for future generations. Maintaining our facilities and delivering the club’s cricket programme does, however, come at a cost, with annual running expenses of around £45,000, at least 25% of which relates directly to player related costs.
Membership, match and net fees form an important part of the club’s income, without this contribution we would not be able to provide the facilities and cricket programme that members currently enjoy.
Over recent months we have also reviewed how fees are collected, with the aim of keeping costs as low as possible while making payments simpler for members. After consulting a number of other sports clubs, we found that many now collect their fees through monthly Direct Debit arrangements to reduce the admin burden and cost.
Therefore, from April 2026, Colwall Cricket Club will introduce a similar system. Membership, match and winter net fees will be combined into a single annual amount, which can either be paid in one payment or via seven monthly instalments between April and October. Please note, if paying by instalments members must sign up by 30th April, or payment in full is due by 1st June 2026.
We want to reassure members that careful consideration has been given to the combined fee for each category of player, and importantly I am pleased to confirm that membership fees have been frozen for 2026. In addition, the cost of social membership has been significantly reduced, which we hope will encourage more people to join and support the club.
We believe this new system will be beneficial overall. As with many memberships, those who participate regularly will receive the greatest value. Players involved in multiple teams or available for most games will naturally benefit the most.
The club firmly believes that cricket should be accessible to everyone. In the past we have supported families and individuals with financial assistance, and our Player Bursary Fund will continue to operate in 2026. Further details can be found in the CCC Player Bursary Fund Application Form attached.
A full breakdown of membership categories and associated costs can be found in the 2026 Membership Categories document attached.
