Well we have been waiting for this for some time now but on Saturday we finally gained a hat trick of victories. It all started with a convincing win by our 3rd team who demolished OE’s who were dismissed for 115 with Matt Watts taking a fantastic 7 for 27 off 7.4 overs. Despite losing two early wickets Colwall strolled to the total in 16.3 overs with Christian Gibbons 58 in 35 balls and well supported by Andy Heath 32 not out. The 20 points gained were very much welcomed.
As this result was filtering through the 1st team were in a terrific battle against a very competitive Alvechurch & Hopwood. With CCC winning the toss on a beautiful day batting seemed the right decision and so it proved to be with 246 runs on the board. Runs were accumulated by the inform Rob Cook 63 who was ably supported by Sam Williams 19 & Jack Collins 75. However it was Chris Kendall’s innings which took the eye with 58 runs in what was his maiden 1st team 50, congratulations Chris, loads more to come we hope. In reply the visitors lost two early wickets but a partnership of 80 started to make the home team slightly nervous however this was broken by Jack Collins. As the chase continued wickets fell on a regular basis and it was young Yuvraj Ahluwalia who 6 overs 3 for 11 did the most damage in his impressive spell. A victory gained in the 44 overs against strong opposition. The first team moved into 3rd position following this victory.
So 2 out of 2 completed however with the 2nd team chasing 262 it seemed to be a tough ask however led by the evergreen Adam Heath we gained a superb 6 wicket victory. The run chase was lead by Bruno Recordon 79 in 98 balls & Sukhraj Gill 62 from 68 balls who put on 172 for the first wicket, which may indeed by a record for the 2nd team. It was then down to young in form Jackson Heath 25 & the Ed 31 to take us nearer to the home side big total and the two Adams got us across the line
Charlie Cresswell bowled brilliantly once again taking 4 key wickets on his spell of 4 for37 in 9 overs, good to see Dom Bannister back in the grove with 2 for 22 off 7
A overall great day at the club finished off by a party atmosphere and some dodgy dancing. Can we do it again? It would be nice
