4 Teams out this weekend, plus a magnificent innings by Rob Cook our leader

Such a pleasure to sit & watch such a wonderful innings

A mixed bag of results this weekend with 1st taking a winning draw against Enville on Saturday, the 2nds lost v Kidderminster away & the 3rds had a bit of thumping away to Fownhope however our first Sunday fixture ends in success v Bartestree

Highlight s of the weekend was an absolutely superb innings by our captain, our leader Rob Cook who smashed 144 hitting 16x4” & 3 6’s. Rob with help from Mark Harding’s making his CCC debut hitting a breezy 37 bay supported by his son Henry 26no, welcome to club to both of you. Jack Collins hitting 39 enabled Rob to declare 2 overs early on 291, not had that situation at CCC for many years!! The bowlers tied down the visitors but could not squeeze out the last 3 wickets, Jack Collins and Savy taking 3 & 2 wickets respectively. Henry Hardings bowled extremely well without having a lot of luck finishing with 1 for 42 off 14

Our 2nds amassed a respectable 248 on a small ground at Kidderminster but that did not prove to be enough with the home side taking on 36.5 overs with 3 wickets down to achieve victory. A fantastic 77 by Jackson Heath was certainly the highlight of the day with 12 4’s and 2 6’s unfortunately Jackson got run out at the non strikers end by a deflected shot. Congratulations Jackson really great to see one of our ever present juniors stepping up into senior cricket and making an impact

Fownhope had two centurions when they amassed 380 against Tom Palmers team, some good resistance enabled CCC to take it to 39 overs with Dan Sparrey 33no & Mark Pedder 24 put on a partnership of over 60 but the total was always in truth a step to far.

Superb availability enabled us to field a 4th team game against Bartestree and we came back with a convincing win with CCC batting first hitting 241with Evan Buttle hitting a fine 50 & Andrew Heath hitting 35, Colwall then bowled out the home side for 73 with Harry Bo Evan’s taking 3 wickets & Chris Bailey 4 wickets

Absolutely fantastic to see such great availability, we will continue to make Sundays or indeed Saturdays when we can, work for us and try to ensure we meet all expectations

On the Junior front only one blip this week came on sunday when the u13’s fell to a close loss to local rivals Eastnor but victories in the week for our U 17 against Rushwick , our u 11 against Barnards Green and U 15 V Malvern. Thanks as ever to all the junior coaches who make this happen. Lots of promising youngsters which makes the future bright & beautiful.

All in all exciting times at the club, lets keep this positive momentum going everyone, as you all know there is no better place to play cricket
