Luke Hall demonstrated great maturity in his excellent 52 off just 49 balls on Saturday when the 3rd eleven defeated local rivals West Malvern in an excellent game of cricket.
After losing Ben Recordon on 1 Luke & Euan Buttle 44 put on 100 for the 2nd wicket. Unfortunately wickets then fell on a regular basis until John Henry 49no out Dan Sparrey 21 took CCC to the brink of victory. Harry Evan’s then hit a steady 9 to take the home side to a crucial but well deserved victory. Harry Evan’s was also the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 40 off 9 . The bowling of captain Henry, Hall & Hardinges made sure the score was never out of reach.
A fine win and a crucial one, with Eastnor at home next week.
The 1st team slipped to a disappointing defeat to by just 12 runs , despite a fine 45 from 1st team debutant Max Moor. Earlier Charlie Cresswell demonstrated his continued progress this season with the ball taking 3 for 7 in just 4 overs. The Droitwich total always looked achievable but none of the batters really got in apart form Max. We move on to another local derby when we entertain Bartestree next week
With 5 to play the first team still have a good opportunity to challenge for promotion but digging in must be more prevalent going forward to these remaining games.
