Jai hits a fantastic 125 but can’t save 1st team from defeat

Kim Berry16 Jun - 12:09

Tough weekend but 2nds have convincing win over local rivals and

Jai has settled in well at CCC and he was rewarded by scoring a magnificent 125 which included 11 fours & nine 6’s. He was supported well by Amaan 57 in a127 partnership taking CCC to a very respectable 255. Hagley started slowly & at 67 for 3 the visitors total look beyond them however Jack Yendell hit 112 to take the to victory albeit in controversial circumstances regarding a potential stumping & a catch behind. As they say things happen like this in cricket all the time & sometimes it’s just not your day. Look in the scorebook!

Jai apart for the loss completed a fine day with 4 wickets off 14 over for just 49 runs. Congratulations Jai we are delighted for you and lets hope many more runs and wickets to come.

We move on to next week where we meet Halesowen in another important game for the club

The 2nds played a local derby against West Malvern & the home total of 280 always looked an impossible task for the visitors as they lost wickets on a regular basis, with Will Brandeth 3 for 31 Matt Watts 2 for 14 off 8 & the welcomed return of Damien Duncan 2 for 11 off 4 all bowling some excellent spells. Colwall’s innings was dominated by James Beswick 62, Sudish who hit a fine 56 and the evergreen Ben Recordon 53. Great to see Xander Brown contribute with the bat 28 and two fine catches. Colwall move up to 8th

A hard day at the office on ghost meadow after a strong Hay 1st team rolled out a young CCC team for 135, with 4 young development players in the side Colwall recovered from 50 for 6 to a respectable134 all out with John Henry once again showing his class with a fine innings of 51. Hay never really looked in trouble taking just 22 overs to knock off the total. All in all the 3rd team continue to be a great starting point for our young cricketers & Tom does a fantastic job in managing them all into the game. Well done TP
