Jack takes Himley apart

“Toby hits them for 6”
- Kim Berry

Momentum ,Momentum , Momentum, the words of our Club captain & coach Rob Cook after this weekends results. Wins on Saturday for 1st and 2nds & victory in the VKO against league rivals Burghill & Tillington made it a happy one for the large crowds that gathered at CCC. The only disappointment being the 3rds second lose of the season against Herefordshire rivals Dales who proved to be a strong unit and won convincingly by 7 wickets despite a solid knock of 28 from Adam McLachlan.

The 1st team travelled to Himley & amassed a huge total of 364 with Jack Collins hitting 134 no with 13 4’s and 5 6’s. Our captain Rob Cook set of in blistering form hitting 98 from just 72 balls with 11 4’s and 3 6’s. Alex Bashford hit 61 in his 55 balls to continue his good form for the club. It was a total that always looked beyond Himley and they finished on 68 with only one batsman getting double figures. The pick of the bowling was one of our spin kings Toby Newman who in 10 overs took 6 for 25 in a devastating spell . He was well supported by Rahul and Savvy who swept up the other wickets. A very convincing win which keeps in in 2nd and with a big game against the leaders Bewdley coming up this weekend

At Colwall the 2nd team looked in trouble at 62 for 5 but a fantastic knock of patience and strong attacking play by Jackson Heath, accumulating 83 runs and ultimately a match winning performance. Jackson was well supported by Idress (Ed) all the way back from USA hell of a long way to commute !! Great to see Ed back at the club even for this short spell. Euan Buttle made the score a challenging one with a good 45.the opposition never really got a foothold in the game with wickets falling on a regular basis. The pick of the CCC bowlers being Yuvraj with 4 and Chris Kendall and Euan with 2 a piece. Four victories out of 4 cannot be bad well down Adam & his team

Sunday saw CCC take on our league rivals Burghill & Tillington who had gained victory over CCC on the first game of the season. With a large crowd gathering on a beautiful summers day Colwall started extremely well accumulating 85 for one wicket with Cook and Hardinges 63 and 39 respectively but then something happened with the next 8 wickets going doen for 36 runs and giving the home team a huge challenge to enter the next round against Aston Ingham. However what a strange game cricket can be with the opposition believing we were on for 300 at time confidence began to rise between innings from the visitors. What they failed to recognise was the the 3 spin kings we have in our ranks Rahul 3/26 Henry Hardinges 4/14 & Amaan 2/28 tore apart the Burghill innings and finished on112 in front of relived set of hone supporters. A great game of cricket played in a really good spirit. A mention also for some debutants in this competition Charlie Cresswell & Charlie Clements who both bowled with plenty of confidence and accuracy.

A fine weekend on two beautiful days
