Waters continues his fine form

On a day which started with dark skies and heavy rain finished with a ray of sunshine & the club achieving two fine victories with only the 3rd team failing to cross the line.

On a day when reduced overs and DWL came into force the 1st team did what they had to do - Win, it certainly turned out to be a close game, batting first the home side accumulated 166 for 9 off 30 overs with Chris Kendall & Henry Hardinges taking 3 wickets a piece & indeed restricting them to what could have been a much bigger total on a small ground. Colwall were indebted to Mark Hardinges whose performance was a big contributing factor to our victory and to Suk for his crucial knock & taking the CCC close to victory but it was Freddie Coleman who saw CCC to victory with a magnificent 4 & a 6 in the penultimate over into one of his beloved corn fields with just two wickets left. Special mention for Jackson Heath who stepped up and played his part in this victory (Scorecard details not available as we went to press)

At home against Chaddersley Corbett our 2nds coasted to victory with Andrew Waters leading the way with a classy 54 no, Andrew lead from the front and in 24 overs had seen CCC to victory. Andrew was ably supported Christian Gibbons who made a breezy 46 in just 34 balls. The victory was set up earlier in the game by some fine bowling across the board. Charlie Cresswell & Will Brandeth being the pick. A really great victory for the 2nds who find themselves in 5th with probably too much to do for promotion but some fine groundwork already in place for next season for a promotion push.

Unfortunately our 3rd team had a difficult day and in truth were well beaten by OE’s, Dan Sparrey 40 & a fine 57 no by James Cosh took the home side to 149 in 30 overs however the openers for the visitors never saw this as a massive challenge putting on a 60 run opening stand and they never really looked back from that position winning comfortably with nearly 3 overs and 8 wickets to go. Luke Hall (13) bowling creditably taking 1 for 30 off 6

All in all not a bad day where availability was not at its strongest due to the peak holiday time. It is probably crucial to future success that it improves if we are to achieve our goals.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday and lets make it a big 3 weeks for the club
