Tom finally delivers!

What a wonderful weekend with all three teams tasting success. Not only that we had some terrific individual performances with Tom Hall , Peter Palmer & Jack Collins taking the honours. Tom Hall with a magnificent 98 no took the 2nds a comfortable 8 wicket victory against a struggling O V’s team, Tom a former Brockhampton player has struggled for form over recent seasons due to injury but revelled on a perfect Colwall wicket hitting 15 4’s & 2 6’s. He was well supported by Ed who hit a controlled 46. Ed capped off a fine all round day taking 3 wickets along with Damien Berry who wiped up the tail.

It was very much a family affair at Colwall with young Luke Hall (13) 2 vital wickets for 19 runs & a quick 26 to seal the 3rd eleven a 52 run win against a strong Worcester Nomads team. Another star of the day indeed came in game on ghost meadow with Peter Palmer hitting 82 in just 78 balls ably supported by Euan Buttle 59 which gave the home team a big total to defend.and one which the visitors chased with vigour only to be outdone by the spin of Peter Palmer 4 for 27 off 5 overs . A top all round performance by Peter. With the game on Stowe Lane finishing early a big crowd gathered to witness the victory. All in all a really top day at the club with a tremendous atmosphere .

The day got better when the news filtered through from Cookley that the first team had secured victory at Cookley by a comfortable 170 runs which allowed them to claim maximum 24 points & consolidated 2nd position with just 6 games to go. The victory was based upon solid batting performances from Sam Williams 40, Rob Cook 60,Chris Kendall 46 Jack Collins 40 & Suk with a quick 34. Cookley floundered from the first ball & with Jack Collins 5 for 22 off 11 fresh from his Greek holiday bowling with accuracy and pace they never looked likely to reach the target set. Wickets fell on a regular basis and at 5 for 4 the writing was clearly on the wall! Amaan again bowled well again taking 3 for 15 in his 7 over spell. Savvy ended up taking the remaining 2 wickets. A really solid performance which will need repeating to secure victory when they visit Kidderminster next week.

Momentum is key so lets keep this winning habit going, obviously good avaiability has enabled up to put out strong teams so let’s hope that continues during this holiday period

From A very Happy Chairman
