Defeat at Barnards Green sends 1st team down, 2nds have a fine win against Tenbury Wells,
& we lift the Herefordshire cup for first time in an enthralling game against Burghill & Tillington.

From the headlines you can understand our mixed emotions! What looked like a good toss to win and bat first turned out to be the opposite. A total of 198 according to the locals looked promising but former CCC player Sam Williams 104 put paid to these theories. The Recordon boys Pete 50 and Bruno 37 took CCC to a reasonable total after a tricky start being 36/4 at one time, all on a pitch which did a lot but got better & better as time went on. All in all not a great day we have flattered to deceive at times this season & as they say the table doesn’t lie.

Our 2nds had a good win against Tenbury Wells who they had lost badly too a few weeks ago but with the inform Tom Hall 44 & Matt Lock 43 they never looked in danger of losing this one and claimed a very satisfying 20 points.

Sunday brought another challenge with the Herefordshire Cup Final and what a day it was. On a beautiful sunny day & a large crowd were treated to an excellent game of cricket which ended with Burghill wanting a 4 to win off the last ball but managed just 1. Sam Bradley bowled the last over beautifully with only 4 runs coming from it when Burghill need just 8 to win. Sam was backed by some fine quick bowling from Charlie Clements 2 for 20 off his 4 overs. Great to see Charlie back to his best after missing much of last season through a back injury. Colwall’s innings saw many contributions Jai 30 , Henry 36, & James 31 and it was one which should have reached a higher total after being 119 for 2 after 14 overs. In the end 152 was just enough. The victory and then celebrations lifted the gloom but most importantly it was played in wonderful spirit with our friends Burghill & Tillington who are an excellent Herefordshire club.

We now move forward as a club & preparations are all ready under way ultimately we have some many positives going on so its time to roll up our selves and take on the challenge that is in front of us.
