It was not to be for our U13’s at yesterday’s ECB regional Finals in Salisbury, it was a tough day at the office but one they will clearly learn from as they move forward into the next age groups.

It was an early start and Salisbury is a lot further than you think! On a very windy & chilly day CCC were asked to bat first in the semi against Lions cc (Poole & Bournemouth) On a bouncy wicket against some fast bowling the team dug deep ending on a creditable 104 & at 71 for 6 the opponents looked in potential trouble but we just could not take the important next wicket & lost with just 11 balls left.

The consolation game came against a strong Cheltenham side who surprising lost their semi final against Bridgwater and ensured all the team participated with bat and ball.

In the final Lions CC beat Bridgewater comfortable & demonstrates that the game of cricket is about fine margins! We wish them all the best in the finals day next week.

Well done to all of the team who performed with great spirit & determination. They really deserve to be proud of themselves for taking CCC so far in this competition
