What a great weekend for the club with both 1st and 2nd teams winning. The 2nds now unbeaten thanks to a wonderful 152 no from James Beswick against Kidderminster well supported by Yuvraj 75 & the inform Tom Hall 43. A total of 339 which always looked way beyond the opposition’s capabilities. Kidderminster replied with Damien Berry taking 3/31 and the other wickets shared by Charlie Clements & Will Brandeth with two a piece. CCC now sitting proudly at the top of the table with a 11 point lead
The 1st team responded well after last weeks disappointing defeat by toppling one of the favourites for this years league title Droitwich by 44 runs. CCC got off to a great start thanks to inform Bruno Recordon 35 & Sam Williams 41putting on 90 for the first wicket. A solid start but one which we failed to build on completely with only Jack Collins 34 & Alex Bashford 26 really bothering the scorers and CCC finished with a slightly disappointing total of 194. What we did not know is how well the spin twins were going to deliver and deliver they did, Rahul 10 overs 5 for 19 a magnificent spell which ripped apart the strong Droitwich batting line up . Then Toby Newman from the pavilion end bowled beautifully to claim 2 wickets for just 28 in his excellent spell.
Wicket of day must go to birthday boy Savvy who bowled the dangerous Martyn Davies out for a duck. Keep producing those Savvy and wickets will come in bag fulls! Another mention should also go to Freddie Coleman who took 2 superb catches and a fine stumping
The extra’s column was significantly reduced from last weeks total but we still have work to do, but a great performance from the team
Great to see so many people down watching at the ground and fabulous to see Ghost meadow being used for a club friendly and the turnout for this was magnificent. Fantastic to see so many young CCC cricketers participating. The future is bright
