Halesowen away in the first game of the season was never going to be easy & thats exactly how things turned out with CCC chasing 266 we got home in the 46th over losing 7 wickets in the process. On a bright & sunny day with a chill in the air CCC asked the home side to bat first. They got off to a brisk start putting 31 on before the ever green Sam Bradley took the first wicket soon to followed by Charlie Cresswell first of the season however a 73 partnership took Halesowen to a good foundation which they built on despite losing wickets in the process. With the score at 180 for 6 & debutant Jai Kurt taking3 for 43 in his allocated overs a sign of confidence was seen however a partnership of 86 took Halesowen to a very challenging total.
Our reply did not start of well when Sudish another debutant for CCC got given LBW when the score was on 31. Callum Butler batted well along side Jai before Butler fell for 24. This dismissal brought Pete Recordon to the wicket and he soon found his stride smashing the ball to the boundary in an impressive 49. Colwall were always in front of the clock and some wayward bowling included 44 wides & a quick 25 by captain Max helped CCC to striking distance of the total. With Amman 23 no and Rahul 21 batting sensibly and the light starting to run out we were in to touching distance before the steady head of Sav & Amman saw us home as the umpires pulled stumps up at 7.20pm.
First victory and captained by Max Moor who managed the team in an excellent way. Lots to improve on for this weeks home game v Worcester Nomads but it can no better that a really good win against a side who will be pressing for honours
