Hanley had a decent start despite a good opening bowling spells from Will Brandreth & Savvy picking up two wickets, & with that little bit of luck could have added to his tally, the runs dried up & the pressure began to impact especially when our spinners bowled with such accuracy. It was also so good to see our young players Zayaan, Damien, both 2 wickets piece, Campbell & Zander so engaged in the game & full of enthusiasm on what turned out to be another very hot sultry day. Ultimately it was the ever present Euan Buttle who blew away the Hanley tail with a wonderful Hat-rick. A performance the captain described as “bowling in the right place & applying Skill”. Congratulations Euan

It was great to see Suk back in the runs & with all rounder Buttle being a very good understudy for the impressive seasonal app rearrange Michael Strong who’s “Gower esque pulls & cover drives made sure every bad ball was dealt with accordingly ” . The result was never in danger. A Great team performance & one which secured 20 points & 7th position.

At home the first team held on to a losing draw against Pedmore. A total of 189 in some ways looked achievable but apart from Pete Recordon 76 who again batted wonderfully know one took control. Jackson Heaths partnership of 62 with Recordon gave hope but he was out for 27 & sight of victory was ended. You never know those 7 points might just be important at the end of the season so well done to the tailenders who came up against some pressure in the last few overs

Finally a difficult day for our 3rd eleven at Ross who fielded a strong team full of players who could play at a higher standard. It was a day to forget in many ways however credit to Harry Evan’s & Ben Recordon who both took 3 wicket & bowled impressively . Next week we roll on to play Ledbury an important game to win
