A heavy downpour came to Colwall’s rescue when they looked set for a near certain defeat at the hands of visitors Hagley in their Worcestershire League Division 1 clash at Stowe Lane on Saturday.
Put in to bat on a reasonable pitch, Colwall were in trouble from the start as Fergus Cameron was unlucky to play the ball on to his stumps and then Nick Brown quickly followed.
Skipper Ben Cooke and Ben Febery rallied the innings with a solid stand, but when Febery was run out the rot set in and once Cooke was caught behind for 46, Hagley’s combination of spin and seam induced a dramatic collapse as the tail disintegrated to 87 all out in the 33rd over.
